Tall Stacks mal anders

It´s the Danube, not the Ohio. It is Neuburg and not Cincinnati. It is January and not May.
The biggest Winter swim meet in Europe took place this weekend. Hundreds of swimmers and thousands of spectators enjoyed sunny skies and freezing weather for the annual Mardi Gras river swim. Several political statements were made too: "body scanner finally shows the zero brains of the politicians!" and "H1 N1 - stay in bed and stay healthy!"
Some swimmers even went in with just their swimsuits. We didn´t see them though. They had a designated stretch nearer to the river bridge. The Wasserwacht had quite a number of rescue boats to accompany the swimmers. They had to rescue a few and tuck them into warm blankets. After the swim, the swimmers and rescuers went to a big party tent for the "after swim ball". We didn´t stay for that either.
